What are the requirements for new preschool students?

Students entering preschool must be 3 years old by Dec 31 and must be potty-trained.

How old does my child have to be to enter kindergarten?

Children must be 5 years old by Sept 1 to enter kindergarten (and 4 years old by Sept 1 to enter Pre-K).  For more information on this policy, visit our Kindergarten Readiness page here.

Can I bring my child on a flexible schedule?

Our program intentionally incorporates biblical instruction and holistic development throughout the entire day (7:45 – 3:15 pm).  If families were to consistently bring their child late or pick them up early, they would not experience our program in full, and their children would not reap the countless benefits of the program.  For this reason, students are expected to attend for the full day.

What kinds of events do you have throughout the year to involve families?

The family is the child’s first teacher, and we strive to partner with parents in the education of their children.  For this reason, we host exciting events almost every month to invite families into the school and to enjoy learning together!

  • October: Community Helpers Week
  • November: EE Gives Thanks!
  • December: Christmas Concert
  • February: Sweetheart Day
  • March/April: Easter Eggstravaganza
  • May:  Spring Concert; Muffins for Moms; Field Day
  • June: Donuts for Dads; Wacky Water Wednesday

We also invite parents to join us as chaperones for our monthly field trips.

Are all of MCA’s teachers Christians?

Yes!  Every staff member at MCA gives a testimony upon application and signs our Statement of Faith.  Staff are expected to exemplify Christian character, be active members of a local church, and strive to deepen their relationship with Christ.

How do you assess children?

Preschool and Pre-K teachers send home a comprehensive progress report at the end of each quarter, which details student progress in every developmental domain.  Kindergarten teachers use a combination of observation, interview, and graded assignments to generate report cards which go home quarterly and mid-quarterly.

We hold parent-teacher conferences twice per school year, though parents are invited to meet with the teacher at any additional times in the year.

How much does it cost?

Please refer to the admissions information on Manhattan Christian Academy’s website.
